The Day's Recap - We had another good turnout today and the weather was perfect.  The wind was measured at 7 mph during the lunch break, which seemed just right.

Last month we were asked to sail down by the boat docks by one of the windsurfing instructors. This is so that we wouldn't be causing an obstruction for the windsurfing class who were always blown by the prevailing wind into our course. Instead, we opted to shorten up the course and move a little closer to the golf course and hope to finish before the windsurfers hit the water at 1:00pm. (We made it!).

At the skipper's meeting, a new scoring system was proposed for the Season total scoring and was approved by the sailors present. This system doesn't penalize those who miss a race day as much as the old system did. Instead of the total points accumulating as the season progresses, the day's score is like the individual race score, i.e., 1st =1 pt., 2nd = 2 pts., etc. The season has been  rescored to reflect the change.
The highest score for the season to date has been thrown out after today's racing.
As for the racing, it was summed up by the fact that Bill had his boat in the water for all 10 races. However, Pip played the spoiler by snatching 3 of the 10 first place finishes, leaving Bill with the remaining 7 bullets. Steve, Pip and Ron mixed it up for the middle ranks. Meanwhile, Gary and Wilkes were engaged in a fierce battle for the last place finish with Gary securing the bottom slot by losing the tiebreaker in the 7th races when Wilkes claimed a 3rd place finish!

The most remarkable aspect to the racing today was how tight the pack was. There were several races that only a minute separated the first boat and the last boat. "Finish on the water" was only heard as a courtesy to save time and get the next race started.
