Once again Mother Nature delivered blustery conditions that
made it impossible to get the marks set on our regular course at Shoreline so
we were forced to set an improvised course at the north end of the lake, near
the boat dock. However, while the winds were not as strong, they were swirling
and unpredictable. During a number of races, leaders were driving for the
finish line only to find that the wind had died or reversed direction. Finishes
were as much due to luck as they were to sailing skills. Needless to say, it
made for a very interesting day.
Bill Wright returned this month and once again took first
with 13 points and having won six of the ten heats despite a run-in with a
paddle boat. Bob Kolowich posted a strong performance and took second place
with 22 points and a first place finish in heat four. Steve Delva followed with
23 points and a first place finish as well. Gary Watson finished with 26 points
but continued his strong improvement from last month with two first place
finishes. As was reported last month, boat lengths between finishes have
tightened considerably and this month so have the scores.
We are looking forward to having everyone come out for the
last race of the season in November and presentation of awards. See you all
next month.
